We also warmly invite applications from students who have a background in architecture, urban or building science, engineering, or computer science. Candidates should meet the basic eligibility criteria set by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and exhibit the following qualifications:

• Strong foundation in urban or building science;

• Some knowledge of AI, machine or deep learning;

• Programming proficiency (e.g. Python, C#, Matlab or R);

• Experience in engineering software such as EnergyPlus or similar tools;

• Proficiency in both written and spoken English;

• Ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and communicate effectively;

• Most importantly, a strong collaborative spirit, eager to contribute within an interdisciplinary team environment.

Prospective PhD students, Postdoctoral researchers and visiting students/scholars interested in joining our team should send an email to hello@citysyntax.io and include the following:

• Any additional materials that showcase your research skills and contributions, such as published papers, project portfolios, or links to your work.

We work like a startup. We keep things lean, and we're not big on hierarchy. Whether you're fresh out of school or have been in the field for years, everyone gets a say and the freedom to run with their ideas. As such, we are also selective about who joins our crew. We typically ask that you chat with one or two team members in addition to the PI. The rationale is simple: you should be someone others want to work with.
